Meeting Minutes: The Library Commission held the first meeting of 1940 at the library on Thursday evening, Feb. 29. Present: Dr. Noble, Mr. Strobel, and Mrs. Gillette.
An inspection of the building, which was being renovated by W.P.A. workers, preceded the business session.
The meeting was called to order by the president, Dr. Noble.
Minutes of the December meeting were read and approved.
It was moved and carried that the east hall, which is the entrance to the Woman's Club rooms, be painted, and Mr. Fred Knapp was engaged to do the work.
A motion was also made for the installation of a light in the same hall at the foot of the stairs and a switch for the kitchen lights.

Meeting Minutes (Continued): At the request of the Commission, the librarian, Mrs. Van Slyke, read a list of the books ordered since the first of the year.
She was instructed to keep the new books for the rental shelf coming regularly and placed in circulation as soon as they arrive.
She was also instructed to purchase Carl Sandburg's 'Lincoln' in four volumes for $20.00.
The meeting adjourned after an inspection of the bills submitted by the W.P.A. foreman for materials used in cleaning the building.
It was noted that the labor is paid by the Government.
