Aug. 29/ 1902
A meeting of the Township Board of the Township of Howell, was held at the office of the township clerk on Friday Aug. 29, 1902 at 10.30 o'clock A.M.
Present: W.H.S. Wood Supervisor, D.D. Harger and J.L.Pettibone, Justices of the Peace and Frank J. Holt, Clerk. There were also present
Messers. R. Bruce McPherson, A.D. Thompson, and W.P. VanWinkle of the Library Advisory Board.
Plans submitted by Col. E.E. Myers for Library Building were inspected and discussed. Moved by Pettibone, seconded by Harger that we accept
plans of the classical building submitted by Col. E.E. Myers with the changes suggested which changes are a nine foot basement, building
seventy-eight feet by sixty-four feet, changing work room in the basement to coal and furnace room, height of first story to be sixteen feet. Carried.
On motion, board adjourned.

A meeting of the Township Board was held at the office of the township clerk, Monday, Sept. 29, 1902 at 10:00 o'clock A.M.
Present: W.H.S. Wood, Supervisor, J. L. Pettibone and D.D. Harger, Justices of the Peace, and Frank J. Holt, Clerk, also Messers. W.P. VanWinkle
R. Bruce McPherson, E.A. Stowe, A.D. Thompson, and E.P. Gregory, the advisory committee on Library building, and E.E. Myers, architect.
Proceded to consider building plans submitted by Col. E.E. Myers after which Mr. Wood submitted the following resolution.
Resolved that the original plans and specifications for the Library be turned over to Frank J. Holt, the Township Clerk, with instructions to safely
keep them in the vault, allowing no access to them by strangers, bidders, contractors or any person except when this Board is in session, except
with the architect. Moved by Pettibone, seconded by Harger, that it be adopted. Carried.
Mr. Wood submitted the following resolution.
Resolved that when the entire committee have examined the blue prints and specifications and we are so satisfied, that D.D. Harger and W.P. VanWinkle
be appointed a special committee to formulate a proper advertisement or call for bids.
That they be authorized to have it printed on fifty (50) postal cards and to send the same to contractors in various cities and keep a list of names as soon
as possible, they setting a day and hour for opening and examining bids for the second week in Nov. and the right to reject any and all bids.
