  • Benedict School, Livingston County, Michigan

    The school was located in Genoa Township Section 16. 

    Hiram Smith began at this school around age 5 (about Fall term of 1888).  Minnie Vogelsberg was the teacher. Three Fires Elementary School is in the field that used to be behind the Benedict School.

  • Benjamin W. Cardell settled in Howell, Michigan in 1847. He was a sawmill owner (1848-1851), undertaker with Harvey Goodrich in Howell, Michigan and owner of Cardell Block NW Corner W. Grand River and Walnut in Howell, Michigan.

    His home moved in 1900 to 132 Isbell St, Howell, Michigan. This house was later owned in 1971 by Orville Reed.

  • This is a portrait of Bernice Hardy, 1912 - 1985. She was the daughter of Howard and Ollie (Walker) Hardy. Howard was Royal Hardy's brother. Bernice had a sister, Elizabeth. The date and location of the photograph is unknown.
  • Berry Corners Party Store, 4040 Mason Road, Howell, Michigan, held its Grand Opening on August 16, 1978.  The store was located on the northwest corner of Mason Road and Burkhart Road.  The owners were Ray Ward, Rita Ward, Dennis Judd and Aileen Judd.  The store name originated from the Berry family who had owned the property since 1911.
  • This collection of photographs were taken on January 6th, 1970 during the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of employment at Citizens Mutual Insurance Company for Berthold Woodhams.   The Reception was held in the cafeteria of Citizens Mutual Insurance Company.

    Mr. Woodhams started at Citizens in 1920 as an adjustor.  He later was President, and served as Chairman of the Board.  Friends and family from Howell and many other cities across the state came to celebrate this Anniversary.

    In Photograph, 0036, Mr. and Mrs. Berthold Woodhams are featured.  They are also seen in many of the other photographs, including a reception line.  The names of the other people are unknown.
