A meeting of the library board was called to order at 7:30PM. Present were Theodore Krieger, chairman, Leslie Merritt, Mrs. Harry Williams, trustee secretary and Mrs. Karl Hoch, member ex-officio.

Mrs. Ina Hight, librarian presented an oral report. She mentioned a sizable increase in book circulations with an average of 2,919 for the first three months of 1955. This was credited largely to greater use of the library by children. Mention was made of the Jaycee Auxiliary members continuing their volunteer services to the library and also the helpful work of the Girl Scouts. Attendance continues good at the children's story hours, but has been small at the adult book reviews it was told. The librarian said it may be necessary to close for about three days sometime in the summer to complete a book check with the card catalogue. Mention was also made that James Sullivan, hospital administrator had inquired of the possibility of library services for patients, but as no room was available there presently for any storage of materials this was considered impractical at the moment unless there would be volunteer help to handle books and do the work.

A motion was made by Leslie Merritt, supported by Mrs. Williams and carried that the librarian be authorized to spend what was necessary over and above gifts received to secure a record player, which has been represented as a need for children's story hour meetings.

A motion was made by Mrs. Williams, supported by Mr. Merritt and carried that the librarian continue extra hours on the part of her assistant and clerk, within the limits of the budget, to facilitate completion of card cataloging work.

A motion was made by Mrs. Williams, supported by Mr. Merritt and carried that a bill presented by the Messrs. Al and Ted Shindorf
t on radiator repair work be paid as this was considered a special service rather than normal maintenance.

A motion was made by Mr. Merritt supported by Mrs. Williams and carried that the library follow its custom of closing all day Wednesday during July and August 1955.

A motion was made by Mr. Merritt, supported by Mrs. Williams and carried that inquiry be made on the cost of Masonite or a comparable material for repair of ceiling in the D.A.R. museum room. (A bid submitted for $275 for such repair with tile materials was considered too high in view of the small use made of the room.)

Mrs. Hoch reported the city has placed an order for trees and some of these could be made available for use about the
