RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS RELATING TO THE HOWELL FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY AND CARNEGIE LIBRARY BUILDING

Building Schedule Refered to in Paragraph 2 & 

c were drawn by Col. E.E. Myers for which with Supervisor work as architect he is to receive $300.00, one hundred of which will
be paid as or one hundred and fifty where the first installment of the Carnegie money is received, and are orders of E.E. Myers for one
hundred dollars will be accepted and paid from said first installment if presented at once to the Clerk of this board.6
The following is my itemized item of the cost of the material and work for the Carnagie (sp) Library building, hold myself responsible entirely for the cost
of all work and materials. In making up estimates as fast as the work proceeds the figures may be divided to accomodate payments of parts of work.

For outside stone work ready to be set in building $1760.00
Setting in walls outside stone work 590.00
For inside walls including foundation and plastering 975.00
For hardware and carpenter work 2550.00
For all iron and steel work 600.00
For varnish work 105.00
For galvanized iron work 1370.00
Painting and glazing 250.00
Steam heating and plumbing 1285.00
Electric wiring of building 110.00
Making total cost of $9725.00

The above is submitted by the undersigned for the purpose only of affording convenient basis for the preparation in future of the estimates to be
made me, as such, I herewith do submit the above as my schedule. I am

Letter of Col. E.E. Myers received asking for letter of history of the Carnegie proposition.
His letter from Law office of Geo. W. Radford and marked 'Absolutely Confidential'. Letter filed as have no 'confidential' matter in official life.

Dear Sir:-
I have yours of 31st and will reply in haste as follows:
Mr. Andrew Carnegie has placed in the hands of the Home Trust Co. $10000.00 for a Carnegie Library Building at Howell, Mich. which
proposition has been accepted and a one mill tax raised accounting to $2471.00 this year for its support.

The sum of $2000.00 is available any time this the township Board of Howell draws on it subject to a certificate of the architect E.E. Myers that $2000 worth
of work has been done on the building. The Library has been let to Mr. A.G. Kuehnle of Howell who has broken ground and is securing stone.
