RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS RELATING TO THE HOWELL FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY AND CARNEGIE LIBRARY BUILDINGJune 15, 1903
4 P.M.
The Library Board Messrs. Gordan, Wood, McPherson, Adams, Brooks but not Mr. VanWinkle met with the Township Board Messrs. Kirk, Holt, Harger & Pettibone & discussed the Library matters, contracts, buildings, estimates & C.
Mr. Harger said that no changes had been authorized, none intended by the Township Board, and Board had never been do?? as a Board That
don't know even as architect had given consent and that no consent as to changes have ever been given by anybody to his knowledge.
General discussion as to authorized work, contracts,estimates, & C by all.
Mr. Wood suggested a joint meeting of the two Boards with the Architect to discuss all these matters.
Mr. McPherson suggest the undoubted genuiness and disintendedness of all members of both Boards.
Adjourned at 6 P.M.
June 16
730 P.M. Mr. Wood dropped card to architect as above. Library Board except Mr. Brooks met at office of Wm. P. VanWinkle and discussed propriety of action.

June 25 Messrs. McPherson & VanWinkle called at office W.H.S. Wood as to Mr. Gordan's getting architect. Authority already given sufficient.
July 1st Mr. VanWinkle with letter of Pres. Gordan Jr as to Grand Rapids architect in 10 days.
July 3 Letter of Col. E.E. Myers as to condition of work & C asking if joist on first floor has been away.
July 3 1903 Ans. by Mr. Wood. Ans. shown Mr. Kirle & M.J. McPherson Aus. almost two layers of stone above first joist. Reference as to Crittenden's report
as to lower walls. Cited as to joist lapping but little in some places. Undesirability of plastering on brick noted if any doubt as to moisture injurying
books or health. Attention called to 67 days without inspection and terms calling for monthly inspection. Inspection without notice desirable.
No water tables. Flue in chimney said to be lacking in places. Estimate where near the roof & C
