    The photograph was included in the 1992 Pictorial Edition of the "Howell Bicentennial History", page 287.  It was estimated the photograph was taken around the turn of the century (1900).

  • This is a photograph at the dedication of the Civil War or Solder's Monument, May 30, 1895, Howell, Michigan.  This monument is near the entrance to Lakeview Cemetery.  Members of the Grand Army Republic, the Women's Relief Corps, and the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War marched to the cemetery for the event.

    The keynote speaker was Hazen Pingree, Detroit's mayor and Michigan's future governor.

  • This is a photograph of the storefronts at 201, 203 and 205 West Grand River Avenue, Howell, Michigan.  In the 1930's, 201 was a hardware store, 203 was Winkelhaus Floral Company, and 205 was a funeral parlor owned by John MacDonald.  Note Grand River Avenue is paved with bricks.
