Meeting Minutes: The Library Commission met in the City Library on May 14th, 1943. Present: Mr. Woodhams, Mrs. Smith, and Mrs. Noble. The minutes of the meeting of Feb 26th were read and approved. Mrs. Noble, as secretary, reported expenditures thus far in the fiscal year (July 1, 1942 – June 30th 1943) were 3102.38∗∗.Booksforthecorrespondingperiodcostthecommission∗∗585.83.
It was moved, supported, and carried that Mrs. Van Slyke be requested—as an experiment for a few months—to purchase each month those books reported by The New York Times as the seven best sellers in both fiction and non-fiction. It was further moved and carried that she be requested to supply the library with three copies of the current best sellers in fiction and two copies of the current best sellers in non-fiction.
It was also voted that the Library would not follow the Chamber of Commerce program of closing on Wednesdays, but would remain open on that day throughout the season. The Commission adjourned. Homer M. Noble, Secy

Meeting Minutes: The Library Commission met in the library on July 2nd, 1943 with Mr. Woodhams and Mrs. Noble present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The city clerk's report of library expenses for the year was read and placed on file. Coal for the coming year was ordered to be purchased from all dealers in the city. It was decided that the library should be closed all Wednesday afternoons until September. It was voted that the customary two weeks vacation should be given to Mrs. Van Slyke and one week to Mrs. Bennett. The vexatious problem of the Library Rail was again discussed and left undetermined. The possibility of having painting done was referred to Mr. Woodhams. Bills remaining final endorsement July 2nd were as follows:

Meeting Minutes: The Library Commission met on June 23rd, 1944 at 8 P.M. Present: Mr. Woodhams, Mrs. Noble, and Mrs. Smith. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Mr. Wm Richards was present and presented plans for the lighting of the library. Bills were approved including a large increase in insurance. It was voted for the library to be closed on Wednesday afternoons in July and August. The customary vacation of two weeks for Mrs. Van Slyke and one week for Mrs. Bennett was voted. Bills for items were approved as follows:

Meeting Minutes: The Library Commission met on Thursday evening, September 13th, 1944 in the Library. Those present were Mr. Woodhams, Mrs. Smith, and Mrs. Noble. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. It was voted to have Mr. Richards present a revised price on lighting fixtures and, if possible, to have at least a part of the interior of the library redecorated.
