    These are portraits of Willabelle "Willie" and Riby Holmes, Fowlerville, Michigan, 1975.

    They were longtime Fowlerville residents; they loved to square  dance.  "Willie" worked in several physician's offices in Fowlerville.  Riby was a vocational agriculture education teacher at Fowlerville Public Schools.

    Original brick Palmerton Block erected 1876 on the Northwest corner of Grand River and Mill St. Was entirely destroyed by fire March 15, 1891. Bottom left corner is the Reason House, formerly known as Independence Hall.

    The first floor was occupied by Gay and Ellsworth Bank (southeast corner of building) and Mr. Palmerton's General Merchandise (entrances on both Mill St. and Grand River Ave.) For more information view the Mastodons to Manufacturers: A History of Fowlerville, Michigan in the Local History Room.

    Looking East from near corner of North Ann St. Grand River Avenue, Fowlerville, Michigan - after 1917. The building with the arched top is Sprague's garage and still stands but the brick and arch are hidden behind wood siding. The building to the right of Spragues is a Horse Shoeing business.
