The caption on the calendar reads, "The REO truck, pictured in 1915 on West Grand River (Avenue) in Howell was first truck in Livingston County. It featured hard tires, chain drive, acetylene lights."
This photograph was included in the Photographic Supplement of the "Howell Bicentennial History", ppp. 310-11, and was captioned, "the first fleet of trucks sold in Howell. Sold by Glenn Slayton to Ford Johnson to start his trucking firm, about 1935".
The names of the persons in the photograph are unknown. The "Mabell Shop" is a storefront also, with the mill in the background.
