The board set its next meeting for 7 PM June 20 and adjourned Leslie B. Merritt, Secretary.

Howell, Michigan, July 11, 1956
A meeting of the Howell Library Board was called to order at 7PM Present were Leslie Merritt, Mrs. Karl Hoch and Mrs. Lillian Gatesman. Absent: Theodore Krieger and Mrs. Gerald McCloskey.
Ms. Merritt was named acting chairman for this meeting in the absence of Mr. Krieger.
Mrs. Gatesman presented a receipt for $75.21 representing the balance of state library aid money.
Mrs. Ina Hight, librarian gave a report. She mentioned Mr. Arnold had taken the deadwood out of trees on library property, except for a yellowwood tree which has had previous plastic surgery. this he anchored to an adjoining tree for the sake of safety should a storm endanger it but because of its condition recommended the board spare expense on it.
Mrs. Hight said she was receiving loan books from both the State and Pinckney libraries for use here.
Ralph Filkins was reported to have offered to match the best price which Mrs. Hight could secure on magazine renewals and told her of possible savings on multiple year subscriptions. The board members said they were agreeable to dealing with Mr. Filkins but advised multiple year renewals be kept within the budget item for magazines.
