Moved by Mrs. Hoch that the pay of Mrs. Warner be raised to $1.15 per hour. This was supported by Mrs. McCloskey and carried unanimously.

Mrs. Gatesman moved that board authorized payment of Mrs. Warner's expenses to attend the summer library workshop. This was supported by Ms. Merritt and carried unanimously.

Mrs. Gatesman reported on her interview with A.F. Monroe, city forester relative to trees on the library lawn. The latter had recommended one tree be cut down another pruned and surgery on a third. Mrs. Hight agreed to make inquiries to follow up the recommendations She informed Harry Arnold did tree surgery work and perhaps she could secure further recommendations from him.

The next board meeting was scheduled for May 16. Adjournment was at 8:30PM Leslie B. Merritt, Secretary

Howell, Michigan May 17, 1956

A meeting of the Howell Library Board was called to order at 7PM Present were Theodore Krieger, chairman, Leslie Merritt, secretary and Mrs. Lillian Gatesman. Absent: Mrs. Mary Hoch and Mrs. Gertrude McCloskey.

Mrs. Hight librarian called attention to 'blistering' of some plaster and paint in the stack room and was of the opinion this was caused by dampness from the eaves. She suggested a book fair to coincide with Children's Book Week in November. She said she also hoped to resume the children's story hour this summer and had enlisted the aid of Paul Bennett city recreation director and he in turn would seek help from the Senior Girl Scouts in the project.

Chairman Krieger read a letter from the Milbrand Mainenance Co. 21047 Schoenheer Rd, East Detroit in regard to their inspection and estimate of repairs to the library building roof. This estimate was $2,985 on their specification. After discussion and reference to previous consideration of this board, with the amount in excess of the budget estimate
