The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The bills listed above were examined and approved. It was moved by Mr. Krieger and supported by Mr. Woodhams that if funds could be made available that the Schanbacher Co. of Springfield Ill. be obtained to decorate the first floor of the library. This company has submitted a price of $1885.00 for this job. There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 9:00 PM.

    Meeting Minutes: The Howell Library Board met on Thursday, July 18, 1946 at 8:00 o’clock in the library. Those present were: Mr. Woodhams, Mrs. H. L. Williams and Mr. Krieger. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Mr. Richards of Richards Electric and Mr. Culp of Detroit Edison were asked to come to the meeting to determine the nature of new lighting fixtures. Mr. Richards was asked to figure the cost of light fixtures with the present wiring. Ordering coal for the coming winter was discussed. The meeting adjourned at 9:30 o’clock.     Meeting Minutes: The Howell Library Board held its meeting on Monday, September 23, 1946 at 8:00 o’clock. Those present were: Mrs. H. L. Williams, Mr. Bert Woodhams, and Theodore Krieger. The minutes of the previous were read and approved. Mr. Richards presented an estimate for installing new light fixtures on the first floor including offices and stacks for $2569.00. It was moved by Mr. Krieger and supported by Mrs. Williams that **21 4-40 Smithcraft fluorescent units** be installed to illuminate the entrance, the main lobby, the halls and the two reading rooms, at a cost of **$1449.00**. Carried. It was supported that 10 tons of stoker coal be ordered to insure an adequate supply for most of the winter. It was also considered that decorators be asked to estimate the cost of redecorating the library. There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 9:15 o’clock. Theodore Krieger, Secretary

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The above bills were also reviewed. A budget for the library operation was submitted for review. It was moved by Mr. Krieger and supported by Mrs. Williams that the library employees receive a $15.00 per month increase in salary carried unanimously. The librarian gave a report on use of the library facilities by the community. The secretary was directed to ask an electrician to prepare a bid for the installation of additional fluorescent lights in the front hall and in the stack room.     Meeting Minutes: The Library Board held its meeting on Thursday, October 30, 1947, at 8:00 o’clock. The members present were: Mr. Woodhams and Mr. Krieger. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The above bills were reviewed. It was moved, supported and carried that Mr. Melvin Williams add two new fluorescent fixtures to the lobby and relocate the other two for the sum of $156.50 that he also install fluorescent fixtures to the stack room:
    12 – 40 W. channels
    2 – 2 light fixtures
    2 – 4 light fixtures for the sum of $300.00.

    A library board meeting was held at the library at 7:30PM Members present: Theodor Krieger, Mrs. Harry Williams, and Leslie B Merritt Mr. Krieger served as temporary chairman. Minutes of the meeting of May 26, 1948 were read and approved. Mrs. Minnie Van Slyke, librarian reported to the board on the number of patrons books loaned, magazines loaned, purchases of books, magazines and some problems of administration and also made a financial report. It was moved by Mr. Merritt and seconded by Mrs. Williams that Mr. Krieger be chairman of the board. Motion carried. Moved by Mrs. Williams and supported by Mr. Krieger that Mr. Merritt be secretary of this board. Motion carried. There was a discussion on arriving at more definite understanding of duties with the janitor. It was suggested the matter of insulation the roof be considered a an early board meeting. By general agreement it was determined to hold quarterly library board meetings or special meetings at the call of the chairman, with the next regular meeting in March the chairman to determine the exact date. Adjournment was at 8:30PM Leslie B. Merritt, Secretary.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. the above bills were reviewed. The librarian Mrs. Van Slyke, reported on the operation and use of the library. A new member of the board was discussed because of the expiration of Mr. Woodhams term. It was felt that the winter's coal supply should be ordered as soon as coal is available this summer. It was understood that the city would assume the responsibility of keeping the library lawn mowed. There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 9:30 o'clock.     A meeting of the library board was called to order at 7:30PM Present: Theodore Krieger, chairman, Mrs. H.L. Williams and Leslie B. Merritt, members.

    Minutes of the meeting of May 19 were read and approved. The financial report for the period since the last board meeting was read and discussed.

    The city auditor's report on the library fund was examined and discussed. Future needs to the building in the matter of roof insulation and repair of floors were considered informally.

    A letter dated January 10, 1941 from the city clerk addressed to the library board was read. This was in reference to an agreement between the City of Howell and the Howell Women's Club in regard to the basement club room. Meeting adjourned at 8:30PM Leslie B. Merritt, Secretary
