    Board met. Present M.J. McPherson, Geo. H. Chapel, R. B. McPherson & Geo. Barnes. On motion the board decided to put in tile drain around
    certain inside walls of the library according to architects suggestion: also to lay drain around outside of building to carry off water from roof. M.J.
    McPherson & Geo. H. Chapel appointed committee to look after putting in said drains.

    Board met at Republican offices. Present M.J. McPherson, R.B. Mc Pherson, Chapel & Barnes. Draft of $2236 received by M.J. McPherson from
    Carnegie Fund in New York.
    On motion C.A. Sauer & Co. were paid $2000 of above draft.
    Resolved that we accept the estimates of Malcomson & Higginbotham, architects of July 27, 1905 for $2236 less $236 for excessive estimate in
    plumbing & electric wiring. Carried.

    May 2nd, 1905

    Meeting of the Board was held at the office of Thos. Gordon. Present Thos. Gordon Jr., M.J. McPherson, Geo. H. Chapel, R.B. McPherson, Geo. Barnes.
    On motion M.J. McPherson was elected President & Geo. Barnes. Sec'y.
    Plans specifications for the completion of the Carnegie LIbrary at Howell were submitted by Mel Cawson ? & Higginbott? were considered. On motion the board
    decided to advertise for bids in two local & two Detroit papers as follows.

    BIDS FOR COMPLETION OF CARNEGIE LIBRARY HOWELL, MICHIGAN

    Bids will be received up to12 o'clock noon, May 18, 1905 and will be opened at 2 o'clock p.m., the same day at the office of Thos. Gordon, Jr.
    Howell, Mich., for completion of the Carnegie Library, Howell, Mich.
    Estimates will be received embracing all work and furnishing complete, as per drawings and specifications. Separate estimates will also be
    considered for the following items:
    1st Mason, concrete, cut stone, file, marble and iron work
    2nd Carpenter and joiner work and hardware
    3rd Painting, varnishing, etc., and glazing.
    4th Plastering and stucco work
    5th Electric work.
    6th Plumbing and heating.

    Also for raising the present dome, and for new entrance complete as per disign No., 2.
    Plans and specifications are on file for examination at the office of Thos. Gordon Jr., Howell, Michigan.
    A certified check for $300 must accompany each bid, Address all bids to
    M.J. McPherson, Howell, Michigan.

    Several bids for completion of Carnegie LIbrary were opened, tabulated, and considered. No action taken.

    Board met at the office of Thos. Gordan Jr. at 1.30 o'clock. All members present. After some discussion, the Board of Township Library Directors entered
    into an agreement with C.A. Sauer & Co. of Ann Arbor in the sum of $8159.53 for the completion of Carnegie Library in accordance with plans & specifications
    as favored by Malco? & Higgenbottem? & as were particularly set forth in contract to be drawn by architect. A preliminary agreement was
    signed by contracting parties. Bond of $4000 agreed upon.

    Building. Gordon & Barnes were appointed to procure shades.
    W.H.S. Wood appointed to get 1000 labels printed.
    Thos Gordon Jr. Authorized to have the name Knehrile erased as builder & Meyers as architect. W.H.S. Wood voted against the removal of Meyers
    name.

    Motion made & carried that M.W. Bullock be employed to establish grade of library square.
    Motion mae & carried that the Library Board reorganize as a result M.J. McPherson was elected to succeed himself as President & Geo. Barnes to succeed himself as Secretary.
    Motion was made & carried that Geo. Chapel be placed in charge of the grading. M.J. McPherson to cooperate with him.
    Motion carried that Thos. Gordon Jr. have the jointing of the? building completed.
