A Memorial. It seems very appropriate that there should be placed on the records of the Howell Carnegie Library, some expression of its appreciation of the services of the two members of the Library Commission, Arthur Garland and Dr. Ernest L. Avery, who have recently been taken from us by the hand of death.
Mr. Garland was secretary, and Dr. Avery was treasurer of the Library Commission, and both were faithful in the discharge of their duties.
They were men who loved literature, who read much of history, poetry, fiction, travel, biography and science.
They were always active in promoting the best interests of the library and were well fitted for membership on the Commission.
(Signed) Mrs. A. L. Huntington, (Approved) Mr. M. J. McPherson, per M. W. B.
