    Sunday Afternoon Drive Starting at Howell Carnegie District Library, Howell, Michigan - 1916

    The driver is Elvin Trollman, the front seat passenger is Marian Callaghan. The back seat (left to right) Bridget Delehanty and Johanna Trollman. The car is a 1912 Buick. Writing on back of photo says they might make it to Fowlerville, Michigan without a flat tire.
  • Harry Maycock Family, 1917, Howell, Michigan

    This photograph was included in the Howell Bicentennial History Book and was identified as the Harry Maycock famly. It was taken about 1917 "when Donald the oldest son, was home on furlough from Camp Custer. Don later served in France during the war. Soon after his return, he married Sarah Batchelor at Oceola Township and moved to Howell where he opened a tire and battery shop in the building now occupied by the Standard Office Supply. Don was a Howell businessman for many years before his death in 1959".

    These photographs are of the Russell Smith Ford Sales & Service Dealership, 401 West Grand River Avenue, Howell, Michigan.  They were also a "Hi-Speed" Gasoline Station.

    They are advertising "Out They Go" sales of used cars; two older Fordson Tractors are in the scene.  The names of the people and exact date are unknown but thought to be ~1941.
  • Queen of the Fair, Livingston County Fair, Howell, Michigan

    This photograph was included in David Finney's book, "Images of America: Howell", 2013, p. 104, and is titled "Queen of the Fair".  It noted that the "Queen" was wearing a sash, and was observing the poultry exhibit at the Agricultural Fair.  The fairgrounds were in the northeast section of the city of Howell.  The young men were wearing "white dusters" which were common for anyone driving an automobile in the early 1900's.

    The exact date and names of the persons are unknown.  It is believed the photographs was from the 1910's.

    This photograph is similar to the one in David Finney's book, "Images of America Howell" and was captioned to be from a picnic at Lake Chemung, Howell, Michigan. The date and names of the people are unknown.
  • McKeen Motor Car, at the Cohoctah Station Depot, Livingston, Michigan

    This is a photograph of a McKeen Motor Car stopped at the Cohoctah Depot, Livingston Michigan.   This gas train ran between Toledo, Ohio, and Frankfort Michigan from 1910 to 1912.  The home base was in Howell, Michigan.  This picture is in Cohoctah.

    The Ann Arbor Railroad owned five of these cars which were gasoline powered.  They were also called "doodlebugs".

    This is a photograph of C. S. Line and his new Buick station wagon car, in front of Howell Carnegie Library, on April 5, 1950.
  • Lively-Crew Mercury Dealership, Howell, Michigan

    The Lively-Crew Mercury Car Dealership was located at 920 East Grand River Avenue, at the site of the Old Nash Garage, Corner Grand River and National, Howell.   The dealership occupied the northwest corner of this intersection.  Dairy Mart Ice Cream can be seen in the background.  Dairy Mart was later known as Anthony's Restaurant.

    Jack Crew and M.C. Lively established the Mercury dealership in 1956.  This photograph was taken in 1957.
