  • These are photographs of several homes on Whitney Street, Brighton, Michigan, with label of "Johnson Builders".

    "Johnson Construction" and "Roger Johnson Construction Company", 1155 Byron Road, Howell, Michigan, were builders during the 1950's and 1950's.

  • These are photographs of Refrigeration Research Incorporated, 525 North Fifth Street, Brighton, Michigan.  The photographs also included the notation, "Hartland - E.J. Duncan".

    Refrigerator Research Inc., was founded in 1944 by Ed Bottum, who remained president until 1996, and active in the business until his death in 2001.  The business manufactured parts for the refrigeration and air-conditioning industry.  Refrigeration Research Inc., also is home to the Refrigeration Research Museum.

  • This photograph was included in the "Old Brighton Village" book, 1974.   In that book it was captioned, "The first foundry in Livingston County was built about 1843".   The building was located at Grand River and North Main St. looking East to Grand River, Brighton, MI.

    In her book, "From Settlement to City - Brighton, Michigan 1832 - 1945", Carol McMacken, relates that David Thompson and Olympus Spencer formed a partnership in 1843 to start this foundry,  Globe Ironworks.

  • This is a photograph of Mellus Hospital, 218 East Grand River Avenue, Brighton, Michigan.  Mellus Hospital was built by Dr. Horace Mellus, and dedicated on February 11, 1931. 

    Mellus Hospital was later the Christian Education Building of the Presbyterian Church, then Michigan Bank, then Leah Gold, and finally became the home of the Brighton Chamber of Commerce for Brighton.
