    Photographs of a house that was located aross from Emil Bode's old home on N. Michigan. The address is 711 North Michigan Avenue, Howell, Michigan.

    The house  was  built about 1846 by Edward Thompson, son of Moses. He and his wife Rosella died in the house in 1852 within a week of each other. The house was built in the late 1840's. It was the first brick home built in Howell in 1845. It is estimated that the  house was built between those dates.

    The house was later owned by the Stover's in the 1940's, the Langley's in the 1950's, and in the 1960's - 1999, William and Yvonne Atchison.

    The date of these photographs are unknown.

    These photographs were taken during the Memorial Day Parade, Howell, Michigan, May 30, 1947.  An article in the Livingston County Press and Argus reported the parade was on Friday, May 30th.   The parade left from Howell High School, 305 South Michigan Avenue, Howell and was led by the Howell High School Band.  The parade made stops to place wreaths at the Howell Carnegie Library, the Honor Roll Monument, and in Lakeview Cemetery.

    Picture 0012, the parade passes through the intersection of South Michigan Avenue and Sibley Street.  In the background, the A & P Grocery storefront is visible.  The laying of the wreath at the Library is shown in photograph 0009, and pictures 0011, 0008, and 0013 are in Lakeview Cemetery.
  • The foundation for the Howell Post office located on Michigan Avenue.  An expansion of the Nazarene Church located on Brooks Street can be seen in the background of the photo.

    Located at the former site of Michigan Avenue Middle School. 

    The post office opened in March of 1986, replacing the post office that had been located on Walnut street.
